The ASA 20 boasts several intelligent features designed for optimal performance and control. Users can select between two different blade opening widths; a wider setting for thick branches and a narrower setting to speed up work on thinner twigs. This flexibility is enhanced by a ‘progressive cut’ function, where the blade movement precisely follows the user’s finger on the trigger, ensuring maximum control and precision. A helpful quick guide for changing the blade opening is conveniently printed above the battery bay.
Weighing less than 1kg without the battery, the ASA 20 is incredibly lightweight and well-balanced, helping to reduce wrist strain during prolonged use. A clear OLED display provides essential information at a glance, including the current battery charge level, the selected blade opening width, and the total number of cuts made. For safety and maintenance, a blade guard is included for transport and storage, and a compact maintenance tool is cleverly integrated into the battery bay. This allows for simple adjustments, lubrication, or blade replacement while out in the garden.
Powered by a maintenance-free and efficient EC motor, the ASA 20 delivers consistent power regardless of the battery’s charge level, a feature STIHL calls CONSTANT POWER. When paired with the recommended AS 2 battery, these secateurs can achieve a maximum of 2,000 cuts on a single charge. Please note, this is the tool-only version; the battery and charger are sold separately, or as part of a kit. Should you need them, replacement blades are also available.

The tool itself is extremely light, weighing just 0.8 kg without the battery. Its ergonomic design and excellent balance are specifically engineered to reduce wrist strain, making it very comfortable for extended periods of pruning.
‘Progressive cut’ is a feature that gives you maximum control. The movement of the cutting blade directly mirrors the movement of your finger on the trigger. The blade only closes as far as you press the trigger and opens again as soon as you release it, allowing for very precise and controlled cuts.
