The Hansa C3e is an electric, self-feeding gravity-feed wood chipper designed for gardeners with suburban gardens. It can be used throughout the year for winter pruning, spring garden clear-ups and summer trimming. Connect it to a 230 V single-phase power supply, press the push-button start and chip garden material. Its maximum chipping capacity is 40 mm diameter.

The large inlet is angled at a comfortable operating height to make the most of the self-feeding action. The cutting knife shears material against an adjustable hardened anvil in a scissor-like action. The chipper produces wood chips sized 5–10 mm and has a fixed outlet chute.

Construction, movement and maintenance

Engineered and manufactured in New Zealand, the Hansa C3e is made of steel and finished with a durable powder coating and zinc shield rust protection. Its 55 kg weight is balanced across solid 200 mm wheels, allowing one person to move it in and out of a garden shed.

The low-maintenance design has minimal moving parts. Its single A8 modified tool steel knife measures 110 x 42 x 6 mm and has an approximately 300-hour lifespan across 10 sharpenings, according to Hansa. The cutting disk measures 286 x 6 mm, weighs 4.3 kg and runs at 2,820 RPM.

Optional accessories and warranty

The optional C3e/C4 clip-on catcher bag contains the output mulch; it can be unhitched and unzipped so the mulch can be spread where required. The optional Hansa Chipper Cover fits the C3e, C4, C5 and C7.
