Hansa C16c 16 HP Petrol Wood Chipper

Compact access with 110 mm chipping capacity

The Hansa C16c Compact Petrol Wood Chipper is designed for garden maintenance contractors and larger smallholdings. At 650 mm wide, it can fit through a standard doorway and can be manoeuvred and operated in areas with restricted access. It chips material up to 110 mm in diameter, making it suitable for substantial garden maintenance and woody garden waste.

Power comes from an industrial-grade 16 HP / 11.8 kW Briggs & Stratton Vanguard petrol engine with recoil starting. Hansa carried out an engine match testing programme to balance the C16c with the power output of the Vanguard engine.

Gravity feed and adjustable discharge

The C16c uses high-speed gravity feed. Its 50 kg winged cutting disc rotates at 2,000 RPM, creating a draft that pulls foliage through the 170 x 220 mm infeed opening. The standard outlet chute swivels through 270 degrees, allowing discharge in any direction from a height of 1,485 mm, including onto a trailer or stockpile. The resulting wood chip size is 10–20 mm.

Cutting system and construction

The two cutting knives shear material against an adjustable hardened anvil with a scissor-like action. The knives are made from A8 modified tool steel and can be sharpened up to 10 times. The machine is engineered and manufactured in New Zealand, made from steel and finished with a durable powder coating.

Soft Start Technology engages the belts between the engine and cutting disc for smooth running and helps protect the engine against shock loading. The twin belt drive is accessed by removing the belt guard.

Routine servicing and available option

For routine servicing, the housing opens after removing two bolts. Hansa also offers an engine protection option, made from heavy-duty 33 mm diameter pipe. It doubles as a guard for transport and a handle for manoeuvring during loading and unloading. This is an option available from Hansa and is not listed on the Hansa UK RRP list. The related model is the C16c Hydra Drive, which has twin hydraulic wheel drive.
