Aimed at serious smallholding owners and landscape gardeners, the Hansa C13 combines a 13 HP / 9.5 kW Honda GX390 industrial-grade petrol engine with a maximum chipping capacity of 90 mm diameter. It starts by recoil. Hansa carried out an engine match testing programme with Honda to balance the C13 with the power output of the GX390.

The C13 uses high-speed gravity feed. Its winged 36 kg cutting disc rotates at 2,000 RPM, creating a draft that pulls foliage into the machine through the 170 x 220 mm infeed opening. The efficient self-feeding action helps remove the hard work of feeding material. The outlet chute is 1,400 mm high and swivels through 270 degrees, so chips can be directed towards a trailer or stockpile.

Soft Start Technology and cutting system

Soft Start Technology engages the belts between the engine and cutting disc for smooth running and helps protect the engine against shock loading. The cutting knives shear material against an adjustable hardened anvil with a scissor-like action. Two A8 modified tool steel knives are fitted and can be sharpened up to 10 times.

Construction and routine servicing

Engineered and manufactured in New Zealand, the Hansa C13 has a steel construction with a durable powder-coated finish. Its chipper housing is made from solid 5 mm and 10 mm steel, and all surfaces are media blasted before powder-coating. For routine servicing, the housing opens after removing two bolts; access to the belts is provided by removing the belt guard, while the knives are straightforward to access.

The standard C13 is not road towable. A C13 non-road-tow towbar is available as an option. The related C13RT is road-towable, while the C13PTO is tractor-driven.
