The Hansa C7 is built for efficiently maintaining a large garden or smallholding. Pre-cutting is not necessary: branches flow through the large inlet chute, while the momentum of the cantilevered cutting disc creates a strong draft to discharge chips high onto a stockpile or trailer. Its maximum chipping capacity is 70 mm diameter.

Power comes from a 6.5 HP / 4.8 kW Honda GX200 industrial-grade petrol engine with recoil start. Hansa carried out an engine match testing programme with Honda to balance the C7 with the power output of the GX200.

Gravity feed and cutting system

The C7 uses high-speed gravity feed. Its 12.5 kg winged cutting disc rotates at 2,850 RPM, creating a draft that pulls foliage into the machine through the 130 x 150 mm infeed opening. The cutting knives shear material against an adjustable hardened anvil with a scissor-like action. The machine produces wood chips measuring 10–15 mm.

Construction and servicing

Soft Start Technology engages the belts between the engine and cutting disc for smooth running and helps protect the engine against shock loading. The C7 has a twin belt drive and a steel construction with a durable powder-coated finish. Hansa chipper housings are made from solid 5 mm and 10 mm steel, and all surfaces are media blasted before powder-coating. The machine is engineered and manufactured in New Zealand.

For routine servicing, the housing opens after removing two bolts. The two A8 modified tool steel knives can be sharpened up to 10 times. The belts can be reached by removing the belt guard.

Optional C7 accessories

Available options include a C7 towbar with 50 mm coupling or a C7 towbar with hitch pin, for attaching the chipper to a ride-on mower or quad bike. A C7 bumper provides extra protection and tie-down points for transport on a pickup or trailer. The Hansa Chipper Cover is also an option, while the purpose-built Hansa Hand Cart pairs with the C7 to collect mulch directly from the chute.
