The STIHL HLA 40 is a compact and lightweight cordless long-reach hedge trimmer, the first of its kind in the STIHL AS System. It is perfectly suited for domestic users and homeowners looking to trim taller hedges, shrubs, and bushes in their gardens without the need for ladders. Its excellent balance and ergonomic design make it comfortable to use for extended periods.
Powered by an interchangeable AS 2 lithium-ion battery, the HLA 40 delivers impressive cutting performance. The laser-cut, diamond-ground, and hardened 45 cm (18″) blades operate at a stroke rate of 2,600 rpm, ensuring a clean, precise finish. The double-sided, double-stroke blade design is highly efficient, tackling even thicker branches while producing minimal vibration for smoother operation. A tip protector is included to shield the blades when working near walls or the ground.
Please note, this is a tool-only product. The recommended STIHL AS 2 battery and AL 1 charger are sold separately. The AS 2 battery is compatible with a wide range of other tools in the STIHL AS System, including garden pruners, blowers, and grass trimmers.

The quick-release adjustment system allows the cutter bar to be pivoted across a 115° range (-45° to +70°), making it easy to trim the tops and sides of hedges. For convenient transport and storage, the shaft can be detached tool-free, reducing the overall length to just 115 cm. This makes it simple to fit in a car or store in a shed or garage.
