At its core is the advanced STIHL 2-MIX engine, which provides great cutting performance while maintaining low fuel consumption and reduced emissions. This model is fitted with a 12-inch guide bar and a 3/8″ P saw chain, a combination that delivers high cutting performance thanks to its narrow kerf. For enhanced operator comfort, the integrated STIHL anti-vibration system reduces the transmission of vibrations to the handle, relieving strain on muscles and joints during longer periods of work.
STIHL has engineered the MS 172 with ease of use in mind. The single-lever operation and combi-lever with stop function make it effortless to restart the machine after interruptions. The MS 172 benefits from several of STIHL’s innovative technologies. The compensator, a control system in the carburettor, uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust quality, and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over time, even as the air filter becomes contaminated. This reduces the need for frequent maintenance. Furthermore, the four-channel technology within the engine guides the fuel-air mixture into the cylinder in a more targeted and compressed manner, which optimises fuel combustion and significantly increases engine performance.
