The STIHL GTA 40 is the company’s first battery-powered pruner specifically engineered for professional applications. As part of the versatile AS System, it is powered by two AS 2 lithium-ion batteries used in parallel. This tool is the ideal choice for professionals engaged in tree and shrub care, horticulture, and landscaping. It is also highly effective for processing wood on construction sites and for specialised tasks like working in tree canopies or performing crown reductions.
At the heart of the GTA 40 is a powerful, low-maintenance EC engine paired with a 1/4” PM3 saw chain, a combination that ensures clean, precise cuts. The variable chain speed gives the operator full control over performance during use. The pruner features automatic chain lubrication, with a tool-free oil tank cap for easy refilling. Chain adjustments are safe and straightforward thanks to side-mounted chain tensioning and captive nuts on the sprocket cover that prevent loss during maintenance.
Designed for two-handed use, the GTA 40 features a soft rubberised handle and an upper grip to prevent slipping. A claw-shaped deflector provides a clear separation between the grip area and the cutting attachment. The tool is suitable for both right and left-handed users due to a rocker switch on both sides. For arborists working at height, an included attachment ring allows the pruner to be hooked onto a belt for secure and easy access. Please note, while the GTA 40 can be used by all users on the ground, it is certified for aerial use by trained arborists only.
The GTA 40 requires both AS 2 batteries to be inserted to operate. An easy-to-read LED charge level indicator on top of the tool allows for efficient work planning. This comprehensive set includes the AL 5-2 high-speed charger, which can fully recharge both batteries simultaneously in just 50 minutes. The entire kit, with space for up to six AS 2 batteries, is supplied in a robust hard case for transport and storage. For those needing even quicker access on the job, a GTA 40 holster is available separately.
