The STIHL KMA 80 R is the first battery-powered KombiMotor designed for the AK System, bringing exceptional versatility to home gardeners. Powered by a 36-volt lithium-ion battery, this unit is quiet, efficient, and robust enough to handle a wide array of garden maintenance tasks, from pruning and trimming to mowing, clearing, and cutting. This listing is for the tool body only, making it a perfect choice for users who already own batteries and a charger from the STIHL AK range.
Compatibility is at the heart of the KombiSystem. The KMA 80 R works with all STIHL KombiTools (with the exception of the FSB-KM brushcutter). Attaching and changing tools is a simple, tool-free process: just insert your chosen tool into the shaft and tighten the coupling to secure it in place.
Fitted with a modern loop handle that features a quick-mounting system, the KMA 80 R can be easily adjusted to suit the user’s height for a comfortable, ergonomic working position. This handle design enhances control, making it easier to manage tasks on slopes, around trees, or on uneven ground. The powerful brushless EC motor is controlled via a speed-adjustment trigger on the control handle, which offers two distinct settings. ECO mode (level 1) is ideal for simpler tasks like trimming lawn edges, conserving energy to extend battery life. Full speed mode (level 2) provides the maximum power needed for more demanding jobs, such as leaf blowing. The speed can also be infinitely varied depending on the KombiTool attached.
While any battery from the STIHL AK system can power the KMA 80 R, working times will differ based on the attachment and battery used. The recommended AK 30 battery provides the longest run times but is also the heaviest. Users might opt for a smaller capacity battery for tasks requiring extended use, like hedge trimming, to reduce overall weight. The KMA 80 R is supplied with a basic harness as standard. All KombiTools, batteries, and chargers are sold separately.
